Man jailed for stalking college girl

A mobile court sentenced a man to six months' imprisonment for stalking a college girl in Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat on Wednesday.

The convict is Omar Faruk, 27, son of late Afzal Hossain of Temaria village under Akkelpur upazila.

Locals at the upazila market caught the man red-handed when he was stalking the college girl around 10:00am on Wednesday and handed him over to police, said Kiran Chandra Roy, OC of Akkelpur Police Station.

“Later, police produced him before the mobile court, where Executive Magistrate Salauddin Ahmed, also the upazila nirbahi officer of Akkelpur, found the man guilty and sentenced him to six months' jail. Police later sent the convict to Joypurhat jail,” said the OC.
