Man held over rape of 4-yr-old

Police yesterday arrested a man in Manikganj over rape of a 4-year-old girl.

The arrestee was identified as Abul Hossain, 50, son of Sarafat Ali from Bormi area in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila.

Manikganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rokibuzzaman said acting on a written complaint filed by the child's mother, they arrested Abul Hossain around 10:00am at his rented house in Manikganj town. 

Abul Hossain had been a resident of the same area for a long time. Although he claims to be a bus driver, he did not have any driving licence.

According to the complainant, a resident of the same neighbourhood, the man allegedly raped her daughter one week ago, on last Wednesday.

The young girl was given treatment at a medical facility and she was out of danger, the OC said, adding that process was underway to produce the accused before a court soon.
