Man gets 15 days jail

A youth was sentenced to 15 days' imprisonment for preparing to marry an underage girl in Birganj upazila on Thursday night.

The arrestee was Liton Islam, 26, son of Kabirul Islam of Dighalpukur village under the upazila.

Birganj Police Station Sub-Inspector Nurul Haque said marriage of Sultana Akter, 17, daughter of Tafezul Islam, was arranged  on Thursday night. 

Informed, Birganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Yamin Hossain along with police went to the girl's residence at Alaigaon village and caught Liton while family members and guests fled.
