Man found dead in Faridpur

A man was found dead inside a mahogany orchard at Poranpur Baparipara village in Sadar upazila yesterday.

The deceased, Hamid Kha, 52, a farmer of the village, was son of late Machim Kha.

Deceased family members claimed that it was a planned murder.

Slain Hamid's wife Kamla Khatun said her husband went out of the house after an unknown caller phoned him around 9:00pm on Monday and did not return home.

Neighbours spotted his body in a mahogany orchard of one Hares Sheikh of the village yesterday, she said.

Hamid's cousin Akidul Islam said his son Sohan, 19, had an altercation with Hasan, 18, son of Alar Mondal of Khalpar village, on October 16.

After the incident, Hasan's elder brother Rasel threatened them of dire consequences, he said, adding that they lodged a general dairy (GD) with Sadar Police Station in this regard on Monday.

His cousin might have been killed as a sequel to that conflict as marks of injections were found on Hamid's body.

The reason behind the death will be known after the autopsy, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station AFM Nasim said, adding that they recovered the body and sent it to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
