Man found dead

Police recovered the body of a man from a mahogany plantation at Goyalertila village in Sadar upazila of the district yesterday.

The victim, Anwar Sheikh, 35, son of Jalal Sheikh of the village, was a day labourer.

Deceased’s mother Nurjahan Begum said Anwar went out of the house on Sunday evening and did not return home since then.

Char Madhabdia Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Mirza Azam said one Abdul Motaleb of Goyalertila village informed him over phone that villagers spotted a throat-slit body of a man at a mahogany orchard around 3:00am.

He later informed the police of the matter, the UP chairman said.

Officer in Charge of Kotwali Police Station AFM Nasim said they recovered the body and sent it to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
