Man to die for murder

A Kishoreganj court on Monday sentenced a man to death for killing his sister-in-law over previous enmity in Kuliarchar upazila in 2002.

The convict, Mohammad Bashir, 41, son of late Monir Uddin of Laxmipur village, was tried in absentia.

The court also fined him Tk 1 lakh.

According to the prosecution, Bashir entered the house of Ambia Khatun, 32, on May 3 in 2002, when Ambia was sleeping with her daughter, and strangled her before fleeing the scene.
