Man arrested for raping teenager with autism in Rajshahi: police

Police early today arrested a man on charges of raping a 17-year-old with autism six months back in Rajshahi's Paba upazila.

The arrestee, Nuruzzaman (42), is a farmer of Baksara village in the upazila, said Officer-in-Charge of Paba Police Station Sheikh Md Golam Mostafa.

Police arrested Nuruzzaman after the victim's father filed a case with the police station accusing him, reports our Rajshahi staff correspondent quoting the OC.

The incident came to light after the girl became pregnant and named Nuruzzaman as the culprit, the OC said citing the case statement.

The girl used to work as a domestic help at Nuruzzaman's house. He raped the girl six months ago, the case statement said.

The OC said Nuruzzaman denied the allegation against him during an interrogation.

"The girl cannot speak properly, she only showed Nuruzzaman when asked about her pregnancy," the OC said, adding that it would require some forensic tests to prove the allegations against him.
