Man arrested in Ctg for marrying, defrauding 9 girls in 9 years

Detectives have arrested a 29-old-man from Chattogram city for allegedly marrying nine girls in nine years and embezzling huge amount of money from the victims' families.

After meeting the girls on social media, Solaiman, hailing from Barguna, identified himself as an officer of different law enforcement agencies and convinced the girls to marry him, said police.

He would then steal money from the girls' families.

A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Solaiman from a house in Pahartali area of the port city in the early hours of today, said Abu Bakkar Siddique, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of the DB (port) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police.

They rescued his ninth wife from the house, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting the DB official.

The arrest came after a victim lodged a complaint against Solaiman in this regard, said the official.

Solaiman, a garment worker, used to target female garment workers to swindle money from them after marriage, he said.

The arrestee confessed to police that he took a large amount of money in the name of giving jobs to his wives' brothers and sisters.

He also took a loan from an NGO through his one of his wives and fled with the money. After that, he targeted another girl, said the police official.

The ADC said Solaiman had married nine girls in the last nine years.
