Seven policemen arrested in connection with the murder of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan have been suspended.

Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (Media) at the Police Headquarters, confirmed to The Daily Star that the seven policemen were suspended on Thursday.

The Police Headquarters suspended former Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge Pradeep Kumar Das and Inspector Liaquat Ali, who shot Sinha dead, while the Chattogram Range suspended Sub-inspector Nandadulal Rakshit, Assistant Sub-inspector Liton Mia, constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun, AIG Sohel Rana said.

ABM Masud Hossain, superintendent of police in Cox's Bazar, earlier confirmed the development to The Daily Star.

The seven police personnel are among nine accused in a case filed over the killing of the retired army officer.

On August 6, the Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court in Teknaf rejected bail pleas of the seven police personnel and ordered to send them to jail.

The court on August 6 also placed Pradeep, Liaquat and Nandadulal on seven-day remand in the case and ordered quizzing of the other accused at jail gate.

Earlier on the same day, the seven police personnel surrendered to the court and submitted bail petitions in the case.

Rashed's sister filed the case on August 5 with the court against nine persons.

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) is investigating the case at present.

Major (retd) Sinha had been making travel documentaries for a YouTube channel called "Just Go". On July 31, he was returning to Cox's Bazar from Teknaf. His car was stopped at a police check point at Shaplapur on Marine Drive road where he was shot dead.
