Locals in Cox's Bazar have staged demonstration in protest of the murder of a local singer and demanded arrest and punishment of the culprits behind the incident.

Members of different local organisations formed a human chain and held a protest rally at Chaumuhoni station on Thursday evening (Thursday), our staff correspondent from Cox's Bazar reports.

Jony Raj Dey, a popular local singer in Cox's Bazar, was killed allegedly by robbers around 8:00am yesterday.

The speakers of the organisations alleged that a vested quarter killed the emerging 19-year-old singer and demanded immediate action. It was not a robbery, it was preplanned murder, they alleged.

If their demands are not met, the demonstrators will move for a tougher programme, they said.

Members of Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad, Hindu Religion Welfare Trust, Cox's Bazar District Puja Udjapon Parishad and a few other organisations were present during the protest programme.
