Lightning strike kills father, son in Sunamganj

A man and his son were killed in lightning strike Jamalganj upazila of Sunamganj district this morning.

The deceased were identified as Babu Hossain, 40, and his son Sumon Miah, 14, of Shantipur village under Fenerbak union in the upazila, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.

Quoting locals, police said a thunderbolt struck while they were fishing in Pagnar Haor in the upazila amid rain around 7:00am, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

Locals spotted the bodies in the haor and informed police.

The bodies would be handed over to family members for burial, said Jamalganj UNO Priyanka Paul, confirming the incident.
