Lightning kills 2

Two people of a family were killed when a streak of lightning struck them in Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Alam Hossain, 39, son of Lutfar Rahman of Chandrapal village, and his brother-in-law Sakhawat Hossain, 32, son of Azizar Rahman of Naogaon's Badalgachhi upazila.

Police said Alam and Sakhawat, who came to visit the former's house recently, were draining out stagnant rainwater from a cropland amid rain on Saturday evening, when a thunderbolt hit the duo, leaving them dead on the spot.
