Law Minister Anisul Huq today said the government will discharge its duties properly so that the killers of Barguna youth Rifat Sharif be brought to trial.

“There are reasons of concern as nobody came forward to protect him (Rifat) when he was being hacked by assailants, although many captured video footage of the attack and the video went viral in social media,” he said.

He was speaking as chief guest in a programme of Dhaka based Ratanpur Parishad at Public Health Engineering auditorium in capital’s Kakrail area in the afternoon.

“Our society will not remain well and we cannot make our future generation well educated if they see that their guardians have not taken steps and the society have not protested against such incidents like the killing of Rifat,” he also said.

The law minister said the trial proceedings of the killing of Feni’s madrassa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi has already started.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led government’s main goal is to make Bangladesh a developed country and to present it to a dignified stage before the world and her government is working for this purpose, Anisul Huq also said.
