Launch services to resume Sunday

Launch services on all the routes across the country will resume on Sunday, maintaining all health safety guidelines.

The decision came at a meeting today between launch owners and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) authorities, said a press release issued by the BIWTA.

The meeting chaired by BIWTA Chairman Commodore Golam Sadeq was attended, among others, by police and coast guard officials.

It was decided that disinfectant tunnels would be installed at all launch terminals and launch authorities would check temperature of each passenger before they board, said the release.

Following the demand of owners to increase fare due to possible decline in passenger numbers, the meeting decided to observe the situation for 10 days before deciding on the matter.
