Lalmonirhat’s Aditmari upazila chairman suspended

Lalmonirhat's Aditmari Upazila Parishad Chairman Farooq Imrul Kayes has been suspended on the basis of six allegations, including misconduct with government officials.

The suspension order came through a circular issued by the local government department of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative today.

The circular was signed by Numeri Zaman, deputy secretary of the local government department, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Muhammad Mansur Uddin.

According to the circular, the allegations brought against Farooq Imrul Kayes were submitted by Aditmari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Muhammad Mansur Uddin and 17 other government officials.

The allegations include misconduct, abuse, and threats to government officials, attempts to make unethical demands on financial matters in different departments of the upazila parishad and behaving indecently with Upazila Rural Development Officer Nurela Akhter.

Such actions of the upazila chairman may cause frustration and anger among upazila officials and employees and may seriously disrupt public interest, the circular reads.

Therefore, Farooq Imrul Kayes has been suspended from the post of upazila parishad chairman in accordance with Section 13 (kha) (1) of the Upazila Parishad Act, 1998 and the amended Act, 2011.

The vacated post was given to Chittaranjan Roy, the panel chairman of the upazila parishad, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent.
