Justice for Rayhan: Sylhet mayor assures of citizens’ protest; victim’s mother breaks hunger strike

Rayhan's mother, relatives broke hunger strike at 4:45pm as Sylhet City Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury assured them that citizens of Sylhet will continue protest until justice is served.

Salma Begum, mother of Rayhan Ahmed who was allegedly tortured to death in Sylhet city's Bandarbazar police outpost, and his relatives started hunger strike in front of the outpost this morning, demanding capital punishment for all the police personnel involved with the incident.

Meanwhile, another person has been arrested today in connection with the murder of Rayhan. Saidul Sheikh has been arrested under Section 54 for his involvement in the case, PBI Special Superintendent in Sylhet Muhammad Khaled-uz-Zaman said.

Constable Titu Chandra Das was placed on 3-day remand by Sylhet Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman today.
