Jubo Dal activists attack policemen

Four policemen were injured in an attack allegedly by Jubo Dal men in the town yesterday.

The injured are Sub-Inspector Md Imran Ahmed, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ronesh Bhattacharya, constables Ronodhir Das and Mubarak Hossain of Sadar Police Station.

They were admitted to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, said Sohel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of the police station.

As part of the central programme, Moulvibazar district unit Jubo Dal men brought out a procession in the town, protesting the recent verdict against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and other leaders of the party.

When police arrested district unit Jubo Dal activist Fahim Ahmed from the procession, around 20 Jubo Dal men attacked them with sticks and bricks to snatch the arrestee, said the OC.

Moulvibazar district unit Jubo Dal President Md Zakir Hossain Ujjal refuted the allegation of attacking the policemen.
