Journo stabbed in broad daylight

A journalist was injured in an attack allegedly by his rival over previous enmity in Navaran Satkhira area in Jashore's Sharsha upazila yesterday afternoon.

He was admitted to Navaran Hospital in critical condition.

Injured Nazrul Islam, 35, son of Taiyabur Rahman of the area, Benapole correspondent of Samprotik Deshkal and Barta Kantho, is now undergoing treatment at Navaran Hospital.

Meanwhile, following a case filed by the victim with Sharsha Police Station, police detained one Iqbal from Navaran Bazar.

Injured Nazrul said due to a previous feud over land, he was staying outside home and went to meet his mother yesterday afternoon.

Taking advantage of the situation, Iqbal swooped on him with a sharp weapon and stabbed him in an attempt to kill him.

Locals rescued him in critical condition and admitted him to the hospital.
