Injured while preventing gathering: Jashore AC land flown to Dhaka CMH

Assistant Commissioner (land) Kazi Nazib Hasan, who sustained severe injuries after being hit by a motorcycle while performing duties in Jhikargacha upazila in Jashore district, was moved to Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka today.

Nazib was being treated at Faridpur Medical College Hospital (FMCH) with critical injuries. He was flown to CMH by a helicopter today, Jhikargacha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sumi Mozumder told The Daily Star this afternoon.  

A motorcycle hit the officer when he along with law enforcers were working to prevent gathering at Godkhali Bazar area under Jhikargacha upazila on Sunday afternoon.

With severe injuries on leg, head and abdomen, the AC of the upazila was rushed to a district hospital from where he was shifted to FMCH later, his colleagues said.  

Two youths were on the motorcycle and they fled immediately, leaving the bike at the spot.

A case was filed in this connection the next day.

Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Jhikargacha Police Station, said they arrested the pillion rider Abdullah Al Shakil but the rider Shubrata Das Amit was still on the run.
