Imprisoned convict dies from 'illness' in Natore

An imprisoned convict has died from "illness" at a hospital in Natore.

Deceased Abdur Razzak, 57, hailed from Purba Vengri village of Singra upazila, died at Natore Sadar Hospital yesterday evening, our local correspondent reports.

He was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment in an arms-related case on September 18 last year, said Natore district’s Jail Superintendent Abdul Barek.

The jail authorities took him to the hospital yesterday evening when he felt chest pain and breathing problems, the official said.

The hospital’s Residential Medical Officer Mahbubur Rahman said that the convict died one hour after he was admitted to the hospital with chest pain around 5:00pm.

“We will say the actual cause of his death after receiving the autopsy report,” the doctor said.

The body was kept in the district’s Sadar Hospital morgue after autopsy.
