The High Court has directed the authorities concerned of the government to formulate a rule preferably in three months for the assessment of answer scripts of students with physical challenges in public examinations.

Secretaries to the ministries of Education and Social Welfare, chairman of all education boards and their exam controller have been ordered to implement the directives.

The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader delivered the verdict following a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Mostafizur Rahman.

The High Court bench had announced the verdict on August 22 and its full text was released recently. The court in the full text verdict ordered the authorities concerned of the Education Board of Dhaka to reassess the answer sheet of AFM Mostofa Masud, son of writ petitioner Mostafizur Rahman in mathematics and global studies examination of SSC in 2019 in one month.

Mostofa Masud is a student with physical challenges who claimed that he performed well in the examination but he was shown failed in the result sheet.

The court asked the authorities to give proper number to Masud if he answered the basic questions.

The court observed that there is no rule in the guideline issued by the Education Ministry for reassessing the answer script of the students with disabilities in public examinations.
