Hanging bodies of woman, youth found in Saltha and Bhanga upazilas in Faridpur

Police recovered hanging bodies of an elderly woman and a youth in Saltha and Bhanga upazilas in Faridpur yesterday. 

The deceased in Saltha was Nurjahan Begum, 65, wife of Kanchan Mia of Nowpara village.

“Nurjahan quarrelled with her husband over a family issue on Wednesday evening. After taking supper, they went to sleep but locals found Nurjahan’s hanging body beside their house on Thursday morning,” Muhammad Ali Jinnah, officer-in-charge of Saltha Police Station, quoted locals as saying.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he said, adding that an unnatural death case was filed with Saltha Police Station.

Police recovered hanging body of a youth from Mohesdi Boromuckurni village under Bhanga upazila around 2:00pm yesterday.

The deceased was Shahin Sheikh, 25, son of Hafiz Sheikh of the village.

According to locals, Shahin was addicted to gambling and he borrowed money from his friends.

As he could not return the money, he was suffering from depression, they said.

“On information, police recovered the body that was hanging from a mango tree beside their house and sent it to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy,” said Kazi Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bhanga Police Station.

An unnatural death case was filed with the police station, he added.
