Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain today urged lawyers to conduct at least two cases without any fee in order to ensure justice for justice seekers.

The lawyers and justice seekers should become interested with pleasure to settle the cases through alternative dispute resolution (ADR) system (a process in which the cases are disposed of outside the court through compromise), he said.

The chief justice said this while speaking as chief guest at Brihottor Mymensingh Utsob (Greater Mymensingh Festival)-2019 at Supreme Court Bar Association auditorium.

Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain said the bar association and the bench (judges) should be more vocal against all the anomalies in order to safeguard the dignity of legal profession.

The lawyers’ talent, wisdom and competence have been playing an effective role to establish rule of law and justice in the country, he said, adding that the judiciary will go ahead with the coordinated efforts of lawyers and judges.

Presided over by Brihottor Mymensingh Ainjibi Kalyan Samity (Greater Mymensingh Lawyers Welfare Association) President AKM Fazlul Haque Khan Farid, the meeting was attended by Justice Md Nuruzzaman, Justice Obaidul Hassan, Justice Krishna Debnath, Justice KM Kamrul Kader, Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain and Justice SM Moniruzzaman, Advocate AM Aminuddin, Advocate Shah Monjurul Hoque and Advocate Sharif U Ahmed, among others.
