Girl rescued, 'trafficker' held

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued a teenage girl while she was being trafficked to India and arrested a trafficker from Shalkona border in Sharsha upazila of Jashore yesterday.

The 19-year-old victim is a housewife from Jangalwal village in Sadar upazila.

The arrestee, Yousuf Ali, 48, is a resident of Jashore town.

Camp Commander of BGB 49 Battalion Subedar Golam Sarwar said being tipped-off that a gang was taking preparation near pillar no 30 to traffic three women to neighbouring India through Shalkona border they raided the area and rescued the girl.

They also detained Yousuf from the spot, he said, adding that the victim and the arrestee were later handed over to Sharsha Police Station.
