Girl 'raped' in Jashore, 4 arrested in 4 dists over 'rape', 'sexually harassing'
A minor five-year-old girl has been raped allegedly by a local youth in Jashore, while at least four persons including madrasa and school teachers were arrested allegedly for raping and sexually harassing girls in different districts since Saturday evening.
In Jashore, the five-year-old victim’s mother said the alleged rapist Babu was the nephew of the owner of the rented house where the victim’s family resides at Dharmatala in Jashore town.
On Saturday evening, Babu took the girl at his residence alluring her to give chocolate and raped her, alleged the victim’s mother.
As the started screaming, locals rushed there and rescued her, said the mother.
Following the incident, a case was lodged with Kotwali police station.
As the alleged rapist went into hiding, police today detained his mother Phulmati Bagum for interrogation, said Samir Kumar Sarker, OC (investigation) of Kotwali police station.
Locals today brought out a protest procession in Jashore town and demanded arrest of the rapist.
In Sherpur, police today arrested a youth Subel Miah, 22, allegedly abducting and raping a class-eight girl at Noklaupazila.
The accused abducted the girl while she was going to school on April 10. Then the girl was kept confined in a house and Subel raped her multiple times. After a couple of days, the girl managed to flee the house, said police.
Later on April 16, the victim’s father filed a case accusing three persons including Subel, a resident of Bagrakanda village, said Kazi Shanawaz, OC of Nokla police station.
In Sunamganj, a madrasha teacher was arrested allegedly for sexually harassing a female student at Chhatakupazila in Sunamganj on Saturday evening.
The arrestee Rajibur Rahman is an English teacher of Gobindanagar Fazlia Fazil Madrasha of the upazila, said Atiqur Rahman, OC of Chhatak police station.
In Mymensingh, police arrested school teacher for allegedly stalking female students in Muktagacha upazila on Saturday night.
The accused Md Ashraf Ali, 45, the physical exercise teacher of Muktagachha RK Govt High School, was sent to jail through a court this afternoon.
Following the victim’s written compliant, the head teacher of the school filed a case with Muktagachha police station and then police arrested him, said Mohammad Ali Mahmud, OC of the police station.
In Chattogram, a security guard of a private female hostel was arrested today allegedly for sexually harassing a student of the dormitory adjacent to Chittagong University (CU) campus.
The arrestee was identified as Abul Kashem, 60, said Belal Md. Jahangir, OC of Hathazari police station.
