Foreign language skills a prerequisite to make progress in labour migration sector: Expats minister

Expatriates' Welfare Minister Imran Ahmad today said skills in foreign language is a prerequisite to make progress in the labour migration sector.

"Ensuring orderly labour migration will largely be possible if language training and motivation are added to skills set," he said.

The minister was addressing a ceremony marking the plaque unveiling of the foreign language training and motivation centre of Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Ltd (Boesl), said a press release.

Addressing as a chief guest, the minister said demand for unskilled workers is declining gradually in the international labour market.

He said the ministry's initiative for foreign language training will be widened further in future.

The Boesl language training centre will initially provide training on Korean, Arabic, and Japanese languages. Training on other foreign languages will be launched in future, the press release reads.
