Five accused in case filed over gang-rape of college student in Tangail

Five people were accused in a case filed in connection with the gang-rape of a college girl in Tangail's Gopalpur upazila last night.

The victim's mother filed a case with Gopalpur Police Station against five people this evening, said Shafiqul Islam, additional superintendent of police (Crime) in Tangail.

According to the case statement, the five accused abducted the college girl from Purbomohonpur village in Mirzapur union yesterday evening and raped her after in a house in the nearby char area.

The culprits later left the girl beside a local river early this morning. Then, the girl with the help of locals returned to her house and informed the matter to her family members, the case statement added.

The family members have admitted the girl to Tangail General Hospital.

Mosharaf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Gopalpur Police Station, said that medical tests of the victim have been completed at the hospital.

Police have started drives to arrest the accused, the OC added.
