Finish repair works of flood-hit roads before Eid: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today asked all concerned to finish repair works of all roads affected by the recent floods seven days before the Eid-ul-Azha.

Quader, also General Secretary of ruling Awami League, gave the instruction in a meeting at his ministry office, according to a press release of the ministry.

Yesterday, the minister said flood-affected roads were being repaired on an emergency basis.

He, however, claimed that “every highway is in a good shape now” and it would be the same in the coming days.

According to the control room of Roads and Highways Department, of the 396.14km flood-affected roads, 122.48km, which is the highest, was damaged in Gaibandha, while 102.40km was affected in Kurigram, 69.50km in Rangpur, and 61.50km in Netrakona.

Seven other districts where roads were also damaged are Kishoreganj, Jamalpur, Mymensingh, Moulvibazar, Lalmonirhat, Sylhet, and Habiganj.
