Fill vacant sub-inspector posts from waiting list: applicants demand

A group of applicants of the 38th sub-inspector recruitment examination today demanded to fill up the vacant posts of SI from the waiting list.

The applicants, who were in the waiting list of the recruitment exam 2019, placed their demand to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) at a human chain at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.

The participants also urged the IGP to prioritise them in the next recruitment exam as they have already passed the written test and faced the viva board, and to reevaluate the age limit of 27 for SI recruitment.

According to the applications, a total of 1,25,000 candidates took part in the 38th SI recruitment process and 4,125 candidates faced the viva board after passing the fitness and written tests. Of them, only 1,402 got primary recommendation for the job from the police headquarters.

Later, 95 candidates failed to pass medical test and were rejected during the verification process. Therefore, the number of the final recommended candidates came down to 1,307, they said.

They urged the authorities concerned to fill the remaining posts, which fell vacant following rejection of 95 candidates, from those who have passed the written test and faced viva.

Al Arafat, an applicant, said, "The SI recruitment age limit is 27 and many of the candidates had the last chance this year due to the age limitation. Therefore, we expect to consider these candidates, who passed the written exam and faced viva voce, to be put in the vacant posts."

Another candidate Sheikh Al Amin said, "Every year 200-300 posts stay vacant even after the SI recruitment process as some of the candidates fail to pass medical and verification process while others reject the offer as they get their desired job somewhere else.

"Keeping that in mind, we urge the authority concerned to fill the posts from the waiting lists," he said.
