Families of 8 B’baria train accident victims receive monetary assistance

Four months after the train accident in Brahmanbaria, families of eight -- out of 17 -- victims received financial assistance today.

Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan handed over Tk 1 lakh to the families at Dhaka's Rail Bhaban this morning.

Assistance for the rest of the families will be handed over through the district administration, the minister added during a briefing.

At least 17 people were killed and nearly 80 others injured as an intercity train crashed into another train at Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria on November 12 last year.
