Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry observes the National Mourning Day

Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry today observed the National Mourning Day and the 45th anniversary of the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

As part of the programme, an online discussion on Bangabandhu's illustrious political career was organised in the afternoon, said a press release of the ministry.

A brief multi-media work on Bangabandhu's life and works was screened at the beginning of the discussion, it said.

Addressing the discussion as chief guest, Expatriates' Welfare Minister Imran Ahmad said Bangabandhu had fought for the emancipation of his countrymen all his entire life.

Recalling the contributions of Bangabandhu for the development of newly independent Bangladesh, the minister said he taught us to be patriotic.

The minister also urged people to uphold and implement Bangabandhu's core principles.

Secretary Ahmed Munirus Saleheen of the ministry presided over and moderated the discussion where officials of the ministry took part.
