Ex-AL leader arrested

Police early yesterday arrested a former leader of Jubo League, youth wing of ruling Awami League (AL), from Dhaka in connection with separate cases filed for fraudulence.

The arrestee, Khalil Ullah Azad Milton, 45, son of Mohammad Habibullah of Hossainpur village in Khansama upazila, was former joint cultural affair secretary of district unit Jubo League.

Police said the arrestee allegedly took away Tk 7 lakh from two people, assuring them of giving lease of local sand quarry (Balu Mahal).

Officer in Charge of Khansama Police Station Kamal Hossain said, acting on a tip-off, they raided Mohammadpur area in the capital and arrested Milton.
