Elect competent man

Speakers at a public meeting in the town yesterday urged the voters to elect a competent leader as lawmaker from the constituency in the upcoming national parliament election.

Nagorik Committee in Tangail organised the programme at Shaheed Smrity Pouro Udyan in the town.

Freedom fighter Abdus Sabur Khan Bir Protik presided over the meeting.

Former student leader Murad Siddique, also younger brother of freedom fighter Abdul Kader Siddique, addressed the meeting as the chief guest.

Although huge development was done in different upazilas of the district during the two tenures of Awami League government, no mentionable development took place in Sadar upazila, speakers said.

Although taxes were increased, the century-old Tangail municipality has been limping due to various problems, including battered conditions of roads and lack of proper drainage system, they said.
