Elderly man killed

An elderly man was killed allegedly by his brother-in-law over a piece of disputed land at Dhulajhari village in Ranishankoil upazila on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 65, son of Khutu Mohammad of the village.

Officer in Charge of Ranishankoil Police Station Abdul Mannan said Abdur Rahman and his brother-in-law Entajul, 60, engaged in an altercation over the land.

At one stage, Entajul stabbed his elder sister’s husband Abdur Rahman indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot. 

Police later arrested Entajul and his wife Husne Ara, 50.

The victim’s elder son filed a case with the police station, accusing four people, including the two arrestees.
