Digital Security Act: Begum Rokeya University teacher gets bail

The High Court today granted bail to Sirajum Munira, a suspended teacher of Begum Rokeya University, in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan granted the ad-interim bail to Munira after virtually hearing a bail petition filed by her.

The petitioner's lawyer Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua told The Daily Star that there was no legal bar for her to get released from Rangpur jail following the HC order.

Law enforcers arrested Sirajum Munira, then lecturer of the Bengali department of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), on June 14 on charge of posting a "derogatory status" on Facebook about Awami League leader Mohammad Nasim.
