Ctg UP polls: executive magistrate’s driver injured in crude bomb attack on vehicle

Executive Magistrate Nilufa Yasmin Chowdhury's driver was injured as miscreants hurled a crude bomb at the vehicle in front of a polling centre in Chattogram's Lohagara upazila this afternoon when the Union Parishad polls was in progress.

The injured driver Md Shahed (30), was admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital in critical condition, said Tausif Ahmed, upazila nirbahi officer of Lohagara upazila.

Nilufa rushed to Nazibunnessa Government Primary School polling centre at Lohagara Sadar union after receiving information of fake votes being cast but when her vehicle reached in front of the centre at 1:30am, miscreants hurled crude bomb at the vehicle.

Although Nilufa escaped unhurt, driver Rashed was critically injured. No arrests were made till filing of this report. Efforts are on to arrest the culprits, police added.
