Couple among 3 Rohingyas found dead in Kutupalong refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar

The Armed Police Battalion (APBn) recovered bodies of three Rohingyas, including those of a husband and wife, from Kutupalong refugee camp in Ukhia upazila of Cox's Bazar yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Nurul Islam (33), his wife Marium Khatun (26) and her sister Halima Khatun (20), reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent.

The incident happened at East Block no 2 of Kutupalong refugee camp under Rajapalong union yesterday evening, said Md Naimul Islam, commander of APBn-14.

Quoting locals, Naimul Islam, also superintendent of police, said Nurul locked into a quarrel with his wife and at one stage, equipped with lethal weapons, they attacked each other.

Hearing of the incident, Halima rushed to the spot but she was attacked by Nurul, said commander Naimul Islam, adding that the three died on the spot.   

"Being informed by locals, the APBn members recovered the bodies from the spot. Of them, Marium's throat was slit. They found stab wounds on the bodies of the other two," said Naimul Islam.  

Md Sanjur Morshed, officer-in-charge of Ukhia Police Station, said the bodies were sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
