Road transport and bridges ministry today ordered opening of a control room to monitor whether transport owners are resuming operations following the health safety guidelines issued by the authorities in this regard.

Stationed at the head office of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority in the capital's Banani, the control room will remain open from 7:00am to 6:00pm from June 1-6.

The contact numbers of the control room are: 55040737 and 01550-051606.

Road Transport and Highways Division today issued an order in this regard.

As per the order, three officials led by a deputy secretary will discharge duty at the control room in two shifts daily.

The operations of road transport services including buses and minibuses are slated to resume from tomorrow following the necessary health safety measures.

The authorities directed that the bus owners may carry 50 percent passengers of their capacity to ensure physical and social distance and follow other health guidelines issued by the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS).

Road transport operations came to a halt across the country after the government on March 26 announced closure of most public and private offices and all public transport to contain the spread of Covid-19.
