Chuadanga madrasa student was raped before murder: Cops

The 10-year-old madrasa student in Chuadanga, whose beheaded body was recovered at a brick kiln last week, had been raped before murder, police said today.

“As per the investigation and other reports including primary, postmortem and interrogation, the boy was sexually assaulted before his murder. He was murdered in a bid to hush up the matter,” Mahbubur Rahman, superintendent of police in Chuadanga, told our Kushtia correspondent.

“But we found that there are dissimilarities between the evidences and confessional statements of the teachers,” the SP said, adding that “Now we need to interrogate them more.”

Meanwhile, police have shown arrested Abu Hanif, principal of Kairadanga Nurani Hafejia Madrasa and Yatimkhana in Alamdanga upazila of the district, and Tamim Hossain Idbar, assistant teacher of the madrasa, on charge of killing Abir Hossain, agrade-II student of the madrasa.

Five teachers including Abu Hanif and Tamim Hossain were earlier held on Wednesday night in connection with the murder case but later the three others were released.

Police today produced the two teachers before Chuadanga Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court seeking 5-day remand for each of the arrestees. The court accepted remand petition the but did not give any order on the issue.

“We are continuing our investigation into the murder case,” SP Mahbubur said.

The victim, Abir Hossain, went missing on Tuesday evening. His beheaded body was recovered on Wednesday morning from a mango orchard.

After police recovered the body of Abir, samples as evidences were sent to the CID Headquarters in Dhaka for DNA test.

“We will get a full-fledged report within two or three days, the SP added.

Hailing from Jhenidah’s Kaliganj upazila, Abir was enrolled to the madrasa six months ago.
