‘Cattle lifter’ beaten dead

A suspected cattle lifter was killed in a mob beating in Juri upazila of the district.

The deceased was Sultan Mia, 40, of Kuchai village.

Locals said a group of cattle thieves entered the house of one Manik Lal of Kuchai village on Monday night.

Sensing the presence of the gang, members of the family raised a hue and cry.

Later, neighbours chased the gang, caught Sultan and beat him dead on the spot while other members of the gang managed to flee, Officer in Charge of Juri Police Station Sanjay Chakraborty said.
