Building locked down after residents of a flat violate quarantine in Ctg

Chattogram district administration placed 16 apartments of a four-storey building on lockdown in Khulshi area after residents of an apartment violated a quarantine order issued to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Besides, the owner of the building, who is also a Tablighi Jamaat member, was fined Tk 10,000 for the same reason, said district administration's Executive Magistrate Towhidul Islam, adding that the lockdown was enforced because some members under quarantine kept going out regularly.

Some 21 members of Tablighi Jamaat were ordered to stay in home quarantine on the ground floor of the building for 14 days under the building owner's supervision on March 26.

Khulshi Police Station has been directed to cooperate with the 16 families of the building if any urgent need comes up, added the magistrate.
