BSF shoots Bangladeshi cattle trader in Benapole

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has shot and injured a Bangladeshi cattle trader in Indian territory near Putkhali border in Benapole.  

Injured Monirul Islam, 42, son of Gulzar Hossain in ​Putkhali Border village in Benapole was shot early yesterday, our Benapole correspondent reports.

He was rushed to Jashore General Hospital.

A group of cattle traders went to India through Putkhali border on Thursday to fetch cattle, Lt Col Imranullah Sarker, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 49, said.  

BSF troops of Angrai camp opened fire when they were returning home through the border around 4:00am. Monirul Islam was injured, the CO said.

But he managed to come back, he added.

A case was filed against Monirul Islam with Benapole Port Police Station for illegally crossing the border.
