Barapukuria MD declared unwanted by employees

Employees of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Ltd (BCMCL) declared their managing director (MD) unwanted yesterday, a day after his transfer.

Petrobangla transferred MD Fazlur Rahman to Maddhapara Granite Mining Company Limited in Parbatipur upazila.

Fazlur said he received his transfer order on Tuesday afternoon.

The action was taken following several complaints filed against the MD of BCMCL with its parental company Petrobangla and the ministry concerned for his unilateral move to transfer officials and staffs as punishment without any reason.

“It’s nothing but a harassment,” said an official wishing anonymity.

Mosharraf Hossain Sarkar, manager of Survey and Mine’s planning department, is the close aide of the MD.

The employees also demanded removal of Mosharraf as he was accused in coal scam case.

Sources of the mine said the entrance of BCMCL remained under lock and key since yesterday morning to bar the entry of MD. His office was also locked as per protest.

On information, Parbatipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rehanul Haq along with police went to the spot, but failed to settle the dispute and left the area later.

Contacted, the MD refuted the allegations brought against him.
