Bangladesh wins 1st place in eASIA Award 2019 represented by D Money

D Money Bangladesh Ltd has won eASIA Gold Award 2019 for digital transformation (private sector), administrated by the Asia Pacific Council for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (AFACT).

The competition was held among Asian tech giants from 24 countries and companies or projects had to be less than 3 years old to compete, a press release said today.

The award ceremony was held today at Swissotel in Bangkok, Thailand in the presence of global FinTech experts, investors, CIOs, CXOs and other technology decision makers from Asia.

In August 2019, APAC Business Headlines Magazine featured the Dmoney wallet among the ‘10 most convenient wallets to watch in 2019’, making it the only wallet from South Asia to be successfully placed in the top 10.  

AFACT holds the eASIA awards with the aims of raising awareness of digital transformation, promoting the achievement of AFACT member countries or economies in the development of trade facilitation, electronic business policies and activities, and initiatives for bridging the digital divide in the Asia Pacific Region.

The purpose of the eASIA Awards is to recognize the significance and great effort made within the AFACT community and to encourage the exchange of best practices.

This year, the eASIA Awards were presented in four categories, namely Trade Facilitation and eCommerce; Digital Transformation (Public Sector); Digital Transformation (Private Sector); and Creating Inclusive Digital Opportunities. D Money won in the Digital Transformation (Private Sector) category for its innovation and contribution to the tech ecosystem in Bangladesh. The evaluation committee of the eAsia Awards 2019 comprised 13 members.

AFACT acknowledged D Money as a leading model, which has the potential to generate excellent outcomes and benefits in terms of collaboration and connection over the internet, social network, and the physical world within organizations across the ecosystem, as well as enable significant increase in the productivity, competitiveness, or better user experiences, as per its category demand.

D Money started its operation with an aim to address digital inclusion. This platform works build a partner based ecosystem, and to resolve cash-to-digital transformative barriers. Since its initiation, D Money has gained recognition globally, forming astounding partnerships to create a benchmark in digital financial services in Bangladesh.

 eASIA Awards

The eASIA Awards was initiated by Chinese Taipei in 2002 and commenced its first contest in 2003. Since the past 16 years there have been totally 159 projects participating in the Awards contest, and 89 projects were selected out for their outstanding performance and showcased in AFACT once two years organized by the respective Host Members. We are proud to say that the goals of promoting good practices in informationization and electronization carried out by AFACT member countries/economies have been achieved to a great extent.
