Balloon vendor killed in gas cylinder blast

A balloon vendor was killed in a gas cylinder explosion near a fair at Balairhat village in Kaliganj upazila of the district yesterday. 

The victim, Maidul Islam, 40, was son of Tayez Uddin of Kamlabari Jamtala village in Aditmari upazila.

Quoting witnesses, police said the explosion took place when Maidul was filling balloons with gas in an open field near the village fair, leaving him critically injured.

Critically injured Maidul died on his way to the hospital, Officer in Charge of Kaliganj Police Station Maqbul Hossain said.
