Arrested Dhaka Bank official confesses to embezzling Tk 5.5 crore

A Dhaka Bank official, who was arrested on charge of embezzling Tk 5.5 crore from clients, gave confessional statement before a court on Wednesday.

Accused Golam Syed Rasheb has been working as principal officer of the bank's Feni branch since 2016.

Earlier on March 19 this year, the bank's branch Manager Akhtr Hossain Sarker filed a case with Feni Model Police Station against Rasheb and cash officer in-charge Abdus Samad for embezzling the amount.

Police later transferred the case to Anti-Corruption Commission for investigation.

Officials of ACC arrested Rasheb on Tuesday. The following day, he was produced before the court.
