Arrest of NIMH registrar: Psychiatrists announce indefinite closure of private chambers

Protesting the arrest of National Institute of Mental Health Registrar Dr Abdullah Al Mamun, Bangladesh Association of Psychiatrists has announced to keep their private chambers and online consultations closed for an indefinite period.

Earlier on Monday, police arrested Dr Abdullah al-Mamun in connection with the death of Senior ASP Anisul Karim, who was allegedly beaten to death by the staffers of the unauthorised private Mind Aid Hospital in Shyamoli, Dhaka.

The psychiatrists association came up with the announcement at a press conference this afternoon.
