Arms, bullets, heroin seized

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in separate drives recovered firearms, bullets and heroin from two bordering villages in Shibganj and Sadar upazilas in the last two days.

However, none was arrested in connection with the incidents, said BGB officials.

On information, the border guards recovered two pistols, 14 bullets and four magazines from a bamboo cluster at Telkupi village in Shibganj upazila early yesterday, said Lt Col SM Salahauddin, commanding officer of BGB-59 Battalion.

In another drive, a BGB team recovered 800 grams of heroin worth Tk 16 lakh in an abandoned condition at Bakchar village in Sadar upazila on Sunday night, said Lt Col Sajjad Sarwar, commanding officer of BGB-53 Battalion.
