Coming down heavily on the government for its inaction against loan defaulters of different banks, BNP MP Harunur Rashid today told the parliament that all the banks were in essence "admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University" due to their sorry state.

The MP also said the country's stock market was "admitted to the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital."

Participating in the discussion on the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2021-22, he said the country's banks are being "severely attacked by looters".

"Millions of crores of taka are being borrowed, but no one is repaying the loans. The defaulters are wandering around rejoicing. That is why all the banks today are admitted in cabins of our BSMMU," he said.

Other financial institutions are also disaster-affected, he added.

He also demanded the government allow Khaleda to go abroad for treatment.

Criticising the Election Commission, Harun said, "What is the need for this Commission? Abolish it".

MP Harun did appreciate some of the development milestones in the ruling AL's tenure. He said "of course, the prime minister has made history. Padma bridge, metro rail, nuclear power plant, tunnels are being built in the country. There is no way to deny such development activities."
