Ahmad Shafi’s janaza: BGB patrolling in 4 upazilas

Chattogram district administration has deployed additional forces including 10 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Hathazari, Rangunia, Fatikchhari and Patiya upazilas this morning in order to maintain law and order situation ahead of Shah Ahmad Shafi's namaz-e-janaza.

Yesterday, District Magistrate Yasmin Perves Tibriji appointed seven executive magistrates in the four upazilas to maintain the law and order situation.

The decision to deploy 10 platoons of BGB was taken last night, said Badiul Alam Pavel, additional district magistrate in Chattogram.

"They have started to patrol the four upazilas including Hathazari since morning," he added.

Shah Ahmad Shafi's body was taken to Hathazari madrasa this morning, reports our local correspondent.

Scores of people have gathered around the madrasa premises till filing of this report around 1:45pm.
